I made a great choice this week.
My mommy stock skyrocketed! I mean through the roof!
I introduced T to the wonderful world of Jane Yolen and Mark Teague's Dinosaurs Series.
At first, we just warmed up the book. We looked through the pictures of How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night? and talked about what was happening. Then we read the book. Then we read it again. He didn't get it. He was all like, "Mommy dinosaurs need to mind their manners." Awww! He is so well behaved all the time that he does not even realize some children do act up at bedtime. I'm so lucky to have a perfect child. HA! I DON'T THINK SO! I told him to pretend the dinosaurs were children this time and we read it again. Ohhhh! Now he gets it and he wants them all! YAY!!
Tonight, I'll show him where the dinosaur names are on each page. My firsties always love that!
These may not be my all time Jane Yolen favorites, but I do love them and I love how he loves them! Happy reading!
This is such a cute glimpse of a nice bedtime routine and fun books to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Bedtime is my favorite...snuggles and books!
DeleteThanks for the reminder. I need to pull these out again.
ReplyDeleteStumbled across them in my classroom and brought them home. Glad I did!
DeleteWhat great choices for a THEME weekend of dinos who act like humans! I LOVE these books as "new baby" gifts and hope that each one will be read 'till it falls apart@
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I brought them home a few weeks ago from school and have fallen back in love with them.
DeleteThere is a book of dinosaur jokes that I highly recommend in that same series. My son got it for Christmas and loved it.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know when a T Rex is asleep?
-He dino-snores.
HA! I must have it!!! Off to Amazon.....one for us, one for my classroom!
DeleteThank you!!!
Love Jane Yolen and Mark Teague's take on dinosaurs, mostly because I know how much kids love them. Do you know DINOTHESAURUS by Doug Florian. Dinosaur poetry guaranteed to please any dinosaur lover!
ReplyDeleteNo! Adding it to my cart! We are about to start our poetry unit in first grade!!
