Picture it.
Doorbell rings, I grab our bucket o' candy and open the door with a smile!
"Trick or treat!" Three kids smile with bags open.
I compliment their costume choices and tell them Happy Halloween as I deliver goodies to their bags.
Then it happened. It.happened.
"Can I have green instead or maybe gummies?"
I instantly went into teacher mode and asked if she had an allergy. She did not.
"That's not really how Halloween works." I couldn't stop! I said it again, louder, so their parents (waiting patiently at the end of the driveway could hear me.) "You get what you get, and you don't mind a bit!"
I smiled politely and closed the door. This was a first for me.
I know the kids weren't being mean, but really?
